Back to the Redneck Hick days!

Rocky and I grew up in a small town and we have some pretty crazy car stories. Well today I felt like I was back in those days! When I went to work the battery was dead in our truck so I had to get the battery pack out and jump the truck. So in my nice bank clothes I am outside with the hood up trying to figure out how to jump the battery. I had to do this a total of four times today then when I got home there was a tow sticker on our blazer (we have a 1978 blazer that was Rocky's first car but it doesn't run right now so it is just parked at our apartment complex and every now and then they like to tow it away) The sticker said that it was going to be towed the next morning. So when Rocky got home from work he replaced the battery in the truck so we could tow the blazer with the truck into another parking lot that way when the tow guy comes the blazer is no where to be found and it doesn't get towed. Sounds fun right?

Here is Rocky duck taping the towstrap to the hitch on the truck!

I always try to get Rocky to call a guy friend to help with this but he always talks me into it. Here is me towing the big heavy blazer with the tiny two wheel drive truck with my baby in the passenger seat! This is small town stuff! Last time we did this I was seven months pregnant! That would have been a good picture!

Our Trip to St. Louis

Three times a year Rocky and I go to a leadership conference for business, this time it was in St. Louis. I have never been east of Colorado so this was exciting, except for that it snowed and was really cold! Those who know me know that not one bit of me likes cold but snow is pretty and the trip was fun! :)

Here we are in the Edward Jones dome, my mom brought Ashlyn to us on the break! It doesn't show in this picture but this is a huge stadium and all these seats were full there was a ton of people there! Rocky and I have alot of fun at these conferences, we have alot of friends there and it is a very positive environment! Doesn't Rocky look good in a suit! That is something a lot of you haven't seen:) Ha!

This was the first one since we had Ashlyn so my mom came with us and had some much needed Grandma time with her in the hotel room while we were in the conference. That helped us alot cuz there was no way I was going without Ashlyn.:) We don't sleep much during these weekends so it was a bit of a challenge getting up with a baby during the four hours of sleep I would have normally gotten but sleep is over-rated anyway right! lol

I wish I payed more attention to historical facts sometimes. This arch is pretty cool, but when we got home someone asked me what the arch represented and all I could say was, "something to do with the Lewis and Clark expedition I think, it's called Gateway arch or something like that." I just walked through the entire museum and that is all I could think of, what a dork! :)

This is the tiny little pod that we rode in to get to the top of the arch. They look cramped in there already now imagine me and some other guy that they put with us (he was a bigger guy too) in the pod also. Holy Chlosterphobia! (I have no idea if I spelled that right:))

This is cute! Rocky and Ashlyn looking out the window at the city from the top of the arch. I wonder what babies think sometimes, she really does look like she understands but she is probably thinking: 650 feet above ground means nothing to me:)

The view of downtown St. Louis from the top of the arch. For all of our pilot friends, definitely IFR conditions!

The flight attendants on our flight were so awesome! They gave Ashlyn this certificate for her first flight!

Naked baby on the plane! Ashlyn pooped and it went out the diaper and all over her clothes, perfect timing!

Ashlyn and I waiting to get off the airplane in St. Louis. Notice the blizzard like conditions out the window-this is the only jacket I brought for me and Rocky forgot his at the house. Luckily we brought plenty of warm clothes for Ashlyn or we would have a frozen baby.

Oh to be able to sleep anywhere:) Everyone got a kick out of this on the plane!

Gabriel Dale

Vanessa had her baby today at 12:08 am! She was not due until April so her baby was 6 1/2 weeks early! He weighed 4lbs 3oz and was 16 inches long, he is tiny but his lungs are developed so he doesn't have to be on a respirator! He will be in the hospital for about a month. Vanessa and Gabe are both doing really well! I am so excited to meet him! I can't imagine having a baby so small, my baby was over double the weight of her baby.:) Congratulations Vanessa and Kaleb!

This is the only picture I have so far, it was taken with a camera phone. Hopefully I will get some more pics soon!

Swimming In February!

Rocky's uncle Vernon and aunt Beverly have a house down in Maricopa that they live in during the winter months. It is in a really nice community with a big pool that was heated to 88 degrees! Rocky loves water and has been wanting to take Ashlyn swimming since the day she was born so he was so excited!

The smallest swimming diapers we found were for 16 pounds and up so they were really huge on her!

Only in Arizona can you swim in February!

She was so exhausted after swimming, she slept cuddled up in this towel for three hours!

Ashlyn Rolled Over!

We have been starting to put Ashlyn on her belly for exercise, but it doesn't usually last long since she doesn't like it, it just makes her mad. So last night Rocky put her on her belly. She pushed herself up and squirmed around and after struggling for a while she tucked her left shoulder and leg and she rolled over without any help. We didn't expect her to start rolling over just yet so we were a little shocked and of course we didn't get it on camera either! I was actually really bummed because I was in the other room and totally missed it. So we tried to get her to do it again but she was too tired, she couldn't even hold herself up. Then tonight we put her on her belly again and she rolled right over with less of a struggle. We really thought that last night was an accident and she didn't really mean to roll over so we didn't know it would happen again and so quickly this time. She is barely two months old! I guess she figured that if we are going to keep putting her on her belly she will figure out how to get onto her back! It is so fun to watch all the new things they learn!

She is also getting closer to sitting up on her own too!! She sat up for about 20 seconds on her own in this picture.
